Five Generations of Spring-Making Expertise
Spicers Springs is a proudly family-owned Australian business with a history built on craftsmanship, experience and a genuine passion for the suspension industry.
For four generations, the Spicer family has been making and working with springs. Today, that tradition continues with Brett Spicer at the helm and the fifth generation, Sean Spicer, now part of the business.
It’s more than a family business — it’s a lifetime of knowledge passed down from one generation to the next.
Brett Spicer began working alongside his father, Richard Spicer, in 1985. Starting on the factory floor, Brett learnt every aspect of the spring and suspension industry from the ground up.
Over the years, Brett developed an in-depth understanding of spring manufacturing, suspension systems and the day-to-day running of the business. As his experience grew, so did his responsibilities, giving him valuable hands-on experience in all areas of the company.
In 1996, with his father’s blessing, Brett and his wife Creina established their own business, Spicer & Dowling.
When Richard retired in 2000, Brett took on the name Spicers Springs, continuing the family tradition of quality workmanship, exceptional customer service and specialist suspension expertise.
Continuing the Family Tradition
In 2012, Brett’s son Sean joined the business, bringing the Spicer family into its fifth generation of spring-making.
Just as Brett learnt from his father and previous generations, Sean has been learning the industry from the ground up — gaining experience across all aspects of the business and developing his own specialist knowledge.
Today, Sean specialises in GVM upgrades, helping customers improve their vehicle's load-carrying capacity while maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance and suspension performance.

I came to see Sean about a concern I had with some leaf springs in a 4x4, Sean actually spent sometime with me talking about the suspension set up and I really appreciated that, he worked out what I wanted to achieve, he really thought about what to do rather then just offer a generic off the shelf solution, came up with a plan, booked it in and got it done.

I had Spicers do a GVM spring and shocker upgrade to my Mercedes sprinter 4x4 camper van. Rear spring upgrade and shocks front & back. The improvement to the ride and handling is definitely noticeable and well worthwhile. It also got rid of the back end sag common on most Sprinter camper conversions. I was really happy with the professionalism and product expertise of the team at Spicers. It was a little more expensive than some of the other spring upgrade options available but I think it was worth the extra price for what is clearly a superior spring and damper set up than some of the others on the market.
